Helloooo! Made it to the San Blas Islands off coast of Panama. Have been without internet for best part of a week and now feasting. It is however Paradise 1.01 . Super cute islands and fabulous crew Prue and Michael Williams relaxing into their familiar roles. Mike tries to lure those fish but after days of only disappointing nibbles says he’s doubtful there are any decent fish in the Caribbean Sea ?
Ps. This first mate happy ? as my baby girl starts her first day of high school teaching today back in Oz, and I’m beside myself wanting to know how it goes. Best luck Nay! You can do this..

San Blas selfie….  There are so many islands like this, each with a family or more living there for several months a year, using water delivered by jerry can.  They are lovely people, a matriarchal society, proud of their culture and keen to maintain it as best they can.  It feels we are intruding though – particularly when a whole fleet of ARC boats descend on this paradise.

Mad mike with his Pilates princesses

We’re sailing George and Bobby, with their mates Brenda and Doug, and Jan and Pete.  George sails his boat from the bridge on the roof of the main cabin – his ‘god pod’ :).

We’re learning the way of the islands, with lobsters a daily treat.

And of course, the local sailors can tell us a thing or two about how to navigate reefs….

Next stop is Colon, entry to the Panama Canal.  We transit on Feb 5th and 6th, and then hello Pacific!
