17 May 2012 Still somewhere east of Lord Howe, we think

Here we are, some 400 nautical miles from Lord Howe Island, having a “sun down” drink at the table – Rum and Ginger beer for Bill and John, G and T for Ken and a can of Carlton for Mike………..and its raining outside ! We are within spitting distance of Norfolk Island and need to adjust our course to avoid an involuntary stop over.

Ken and Bill doing some maintenance (or more specifically “whipping”…….no, not 50 Shades style !) work on some ropes. We have had some steady south westerly winds since leaving Lord Howe Island and have made good progress, averaging about 8 knots., although currently just hit 13 knots with a double reef in the main and the jib up ! Wind now more from the south east.

Now, on to important matters……..Joan’s beef casserole and rice (plus pappadums !) for dinner, pilates class cancelled due to inclement weather, Bill washed the tablecloth and napkins, and after a long Guru board meeting we have adopted the new GMT (Guru Mean Time)…….currently one hour ahead of Sydney time. This works perfectly for both Sun Downers and the early morning watch.
