Who said old lizards never change their spots? Well, that sounds like Merge, actually, who apparently knows a Lizard Island when she sees one. Cupcake quite likes a Lizard Island, too it seems. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but this morning she ate a kind of eggs benedict thing. God forbid. What happened to the special-mix museli?
Ol’ Capt Cook once climbed the mountain to take a peak from the peak, and ever since then, other Lizarders have felt guilty if they don’t go and do same. We’ve been planning this ascent for 3 days now. Just moving into the detailed planning phase (…don’t forget the water bottle level stuff). With any luck we’ll leave before we have to do it, because, you see, it blows rather a lot here. It IS gorgeous though – startling coral, 26 degree water temperature, turquoise water…
The trip from Cooktown was magnificent – we saw 35 knots on the instruments, and Ressie hit 17 knots with less than half a staysail up. Don’t know how you’d go upwind in this stuff though. Most of the boats at Lizard are forlornly waiting for the wind to change. Try October, methinks. Just as well we’re headed north then! Cupcake is off home and Iain and Ross arrive tomorrow. Next stop Thursday Island!!
