4 Jan 2019 – Port Elisabeth, Bequia to Marigot Bay, St Lucia
Hope you don’t read this Chris Warrell, if you are reading, please stop now – we hit the high seas and you might chunder!
We left Bequia at 3am, so much of the hard core sailing (63 nautical miles) could occur whilst Janice, Tim and I got our beauty sleep. In fact we had bombed ourselves when we went to bed so that it was only Captain Ken at the helm. Luckily he has an auto pilot, “don’t call me Shirley” so he could not only sail by himself but also make coffee and keep an eye on his much loved water maker, Harriet.
By 6am or so Janice and I were messaging each other from hull to hull discussing [censored by admin].
Janice however thought a photo of the waves splashing on the deck would be enhanced by opening the hatch to take a photo, only to be saturated by a big wave [second joke censored by admin].
We arrived in Marigot Bay which is gorgeous and where part of the original Dr Dolittle was filmed.
The next day Janice, Tim and I walked up the hill and then went to the hotel pool (Janice’s happy place) where we swam/relaxed/drank mango daiquiris and soaked up the ambience from luxurious cushioned day beds.
The sunset from the Mermaid Bar (stern of Ressie) was spectacular, see below.
7 Jan- Marigot Bay to Rodney Bay Marina, St Lucia
Easy sail, I didn’t have to lift a finger, only job I had was holding Ken’s big balls (fenders for the “naughtical”) to stop Ressie crashing into the jetty whilst everyone rushed about, including the lovely team below.
We strolled around Rodney Bay, and turned a corner to find a table of giggling, gossiping, laughing young local women and the bonniest of babies. Janice and I went straight into white auntie mode and made ourselves welcome at the table. We’ve exchanged Instagram addresses, lots more laughs and our day was made.
We are nearing the end of our 2 weeks on Ressie – it has been a magnificent holiday full of laughs, learning the boat protocols (don’t use too much water, keep galley clean and keep Captain Ken’s caffeine levels up) and great memories.
Thanks guys, love you.
Noni and Tim
Xx
