About 6 months ago Captain Ken floated the idea of us joining him and Janice sailing Ressie from Grenada to St Lucia. We looked at each for a nanosecond and both screamed ‘yes’, what an invitation and no way would we miss this opportunity.

27 December 2018

We arrived at Grenada airport from Miami at 1pm and were met by squealing Janice and Ken! We drove to Port Louis Marina where Captain Ken headed straight for Ressie (which had been in dry dock for a year and in the water for about a month) and Janice headed straight to the supermarket with us in tow.

27 December is a very special day being Janice’s birthday and we went for a celebratory Japanese dinner at 7pm at Yolo which was the best sushi this side of Tokyo. Bed by 9.30pm.

28 December until ……..????

A blur of days as we unwound and relaxed, slept, ate, talked (quelle surprise) and in Captain Ken’s case he also sailed, fixed things, sailed, fixed more things, able seaman that he is.

Somewhere leading up to new years eve we:

1. went for a swim, cocktail and dinner at Aquarium where we watched a couple have their engagement photos taken (see below)
2. explored Grenada
3. cooked and ate delicious non-local delicacies such as spaghetti bolognaise (Heston is correct that food tastes better in extraordinary environments), Cypriot salad and Janice’s home made muesli
4. sailed from Grenada to Union Island
5. lost track of days and time

31 December

What’s not to love about NYE in the Caribbean?

1. arriving bare foot at Vanessa’s restaurant on the beach at Chatham Bay
2. west facing sunset
3. everyone is friendly including the laid-back staff (see below)
4. having George & Bobbie from Cabana with us
5. reggae music (although Tim said it was electro-reggae)
6. lots of rum
7. dancing
8. midnight back on Ressie to see in the new year prostrate on the ‘star bar’ listening to “Dark Side Of The Moon”

Conclusion

This was our first 5 days in paradise with Janice and Ken.
