It’s all about “Trace Day”….(forget that our Rally starts tomorrow and Ressie has to be ship shape!) ) …The midnight elves sprung out of nowhere and decorated the boat in true nautical polka dot, birthday style…. Balloons, streamers, lanterns, party hats and trivia transforming Ressie. Squeals of surprise on awakening! Phew phase 1 over and we completely surprised her!
Phase 2…birthday brekkie. Then onto some more serious duties such as provisioning the boat (again…) But wait, Phase 3 begins and we’re back to “Trace Day”… coffee, candles and free birthday cake…..(how she conned the cafe manager into that at 10am is beyond me and we hadn’t even finished provisioning yet!)
Woolies again…. followed by Coles for good measure… Then wait, its Phase 4 and back to “Tracy Day”…….. A Ressie birthday lunch, party hats and all. Captain Ken now cracks the whip and we’re suddenly pulled into action… Gas bottles filled, alcohol provisioned and skippers briefing ticked…… Oh, did I mention clearing customs and back to “Trace Day” and beers with the crews!
As the night closed in and the sun set over the water, our final Phase begun, the waterfront Oyster Bar, cocktails, Greek food and the party just grew! How we ever got back to Ressie, as she waited so patiently to be prepared for her start line, is beyond me!
You see, now the elves are in slumber… The candles are blown and the cake is all eaten It’s 11:50pm and I ask myself….. is the World Arc Rally really starting tomorrow or is it really “Trace Day”?
